WESTERN PROVINCE

WAGU LAKE

An overflow area of the Sepik river system. It fills up during the rainy season and slowly releases water during dry times. Unique wetlands, lakes and streams are pictured against the dramatic hung stein mountain range. This area is linked to our other 600,000 Hectares Sepik landowner ecosystem. Exceptionally low population density and so far relatively little disturbance makes Wagu Lake and surroundings especially suitable for ECOSHARE.
EAST & WEST NEW BRITAIN

Old coconut plantations are now being replaced by more profitable palm oil, as well as replacing natural landscapes. Degraded forests, mixed with primary and secondary forest still offer an opportunity to conserve, protect and restore. Low lying areas and small islands seem already endangered by rising seas, due to global warming.
